Using Green Tea for Facial Beauty

· ·

Most people are aware of the health benefits that could be provided by drinking green tea, but the majority of people don’t realise the benefits that can come from directly applying it to your body. As well as being consumed internally in the form of a refreshing drink, green tea can also be applied topically to your body.  Traditionally, it’s been revered throughout the east as both a delicious beverage and an excellently effective skin lotion.

There are a number of ways that you can pamper your skin by using green tea. Perhaps the most obvious method is applying the tea directly to your face. Simply wrap some brewed leaves and rub it over your forehead, cheeks and nose to help cleanse your skin and leave it feeling refreshed.

If applying the tea directly to your face doesn’t really appeal to you, you can mix the wet leaves with your favourite facial cleanser. The principle is exactly the same: take some used green tea and mix in some of your facial cleanser and then apply this to your face.

One of the most intense ways to experience the refreshing power of green tea on your skin is by treating yourself to a green tea facial. Steep some leaves in hot water and wait for it to cool, and apply them on to your face. Next take some non scented face cream and do the same, applying it evenly to your face whilst the leaves are still there. Leave this on your face for five to ten minutes and then remove it with a wet cloth. Your skin should feel cleansed and refreshed afterwards.

Matcha powder can also be mixed with some water to form a paste, and applied directly on the face for about 10 minutes.
